IFP Condemns Mob Justice in Khutsong

04 November 2013

The IFP strongly condemns all actions taken by Khutsong residents that resulted in five suspected gang members, and a sangoma accused of working with gangs, being killed. IFP Spokesperson on Police, Mr Velaphi Ndlovu MP said, “As much as we sympathize and understand their plight of being terrorized by gangsters in their area, we condemn their actions of killing those they believe to be the perpetrators. Residents should not take the law into their own hands. They should report perpetrators to the police and let the police deal with them.”

Ndlovu added, “Mob justice is not a solution to crime in our areas. We urge residents of Khutsong to stop this unlawful activity immediately. Those who will be found guilty of such an act must be arrested and prosecuted in the court of law.”

The IFP does not support any form of violence and encourages residents to report crime to the police.
