MEDIA STATEMENT BY THE
INKATHA FREEDOM PARTY

ANC Disdainful of Voters

06 June 2013

The IFP has lambasted the KwaZulu-Natal ANC for treating the people of KwaZulu-Natal with disdain. The party said this in a statement issued today in reaction to MEC Nomusa Dube’s failure to release the full Manase Report as it had been promised prior to yesterday’s release. IFP’s Deputy National Spokesperson, Joshua Mazibuko said:

“The IFP regards MEC Nomusa Dube’s failure to release the full Manase Report as evidence that the ANC government treats the people of KwaZulu-Natal with disdain. Before the release of the so-called Progress Report, much fan-fare was created leading the public to believe that on Tuesday they would, for the first time, get access to the long-awaited Manase Report. Sadly it turned out that they were duped.

“What is worse is that MEC Dube had the temerity to tell the voters that they must apply for Access of Information if they want to have access to the Manase Report, which means – on top of having paid about R14m through their taxes to finance the Manase Commission of Inquiry - they must still pay to access what is in essence their report.

“We therefore want to declare that indeed the IFP will proceed in full force with our quest for the courts to force ANC MEC Dube and the ANC-led eThekwini Municipality to release this report.”
