Ruling Party Purposely Turning A Blind Eye
to Fraudulent Tender Dealings

08 February 2013

The Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu Natal has lashed out at the ruling party for allegedly turning a blind eye to government tenders that are obtained through fraud.

The IFP’s lashing comes shortly after business couple Shaun and Sbu Mpisane's home was seized earlier this week and a year after the Manase report was unveiled only to reveal ‘sugar coated’ information. The Mpisanes, who obtained most of their tenders from eThekwini municipality, are alleged to have been awarded more than R140 million in government tenders after supplying false information to the Construction Industry Development Board.

“The ruling party needs to stop protecting criminals who benefit through tenders that are financed by taxpayers’ money. The Mpisanes are not the only ones that are fraudulently obtaining government tenders, however others who have been lucky not to be caught out now might be in that Manase report which the eThekwini municipality is so overprotective of,” said Hon. Blessed Gwala, Leader of the Official Opposition in the KZN Legislature and IFP National Spokesperson.

The IFP will not sit back and watch while the rich get richer and the poor become poorer because of greed and selfish dealings of the ruling party.
