Farewell and Thank You to Proteas Coach

The IFP wishes to thank and applaud the Proteas coach, Gary Kirsten who is stepping down as Proteas coach at the end of the Champions Trophy, for his excellent service to the nation during his tenure.

 

IFP Spokesperson on Sport and Recreation, Mkhuleko Hlengwa MP said, "Kirsten has played a vital role in South African cricket throughout the years and will remain as one of the great South African sports stars. He has instilled high levels of excellence and professionalism in our team and for this we thank him. His resignation is indeed a great loss for cricket and South Africa."

 

The IFP also thanks the Kirsten family for the support they have given Gary over the years as he has served his country.

 

"As the IFP it is our wish that Cricket SA makes an appointment of a coach equal to the task of coaching the greatest cricket team. Kirsten leaves behind big shoes to fill, we need coach with equal drive, professionalism and steadfastness as emulated by Kirsten. We need someone who will continue the momentum gained, fly the flag high and make South Africa proud. We wish Gary and his team every success in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy and look forward to the Proteas bringing the cup home." said Hlengwa.
