The Chief Justice is Over-killing

10 July 2013

The Chief Justice is not only over-killing, but the trend of his speech in especially referring back to the apartheid era using very strong languagecould almost amount to hate speech. This shows red lights for reconciliation. The Chief Justice, as the Head of our Judiciary, should read Madiba's views on reconciliation and rather take the lead in directing the judiciary and the whole country to strive for more  reconciliation. He should not be rattling his sabre.

He talks of a "war that has been declared against transformation". I know nothing of "war" and I do not think that it exists. Yes, individuals are unhappy about white and black candidates not being appointed, and there is a perception that the bench is not being "transformed". This is simply not true. The bench shows excellent progress in transformation.
