Urgent Disciplinary Action Required
Against Clinical Director At Charlotte Maxeke Hospital

15 May 2013

The IFP calls on the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital Management and Gauteng Provincial Department of Health, to take urgent steps against Dr Mamorena Mofokeng, a clinical director accused of chasing away hospital specialists and staff.

IFP Spokesperson on Health, Mrs Hilda Msweli, MP, said, "The Provincial Department of Health is aware of many complaints from specialists and other hospital staff against Dr Mamorena Mofokeng. Her improper treatment of hospital staff and specialists has led to many resignations from the hospital."

"This country is in dire need of qualified doctors and it is high time that the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital Management wake up and take urgent steps against this director. If this situation is allowed to continue no doctors will want to work at this hospital with the patients being the ultimate ones who will suffer," said Msweli.

The IFP calls on the MEC for Health in Gauteng and the Minister of Health to urgently intervene in resolving this situation.
