IFP Calls for Urgent Investigation Into Claims of Non-accredited Courses At Mnambithi FET College

22 July 2013

The IFP calls on the Department of Higher Education and Training to urgently investigate claims of non-accredited courses being offered by Mnambithi FET College, Ezakheni, KwaZulu Natal.

IFP Spokesperson on Education, Mr Alfred Mpontshane, MP, said, “Students became suspicious of accreditation when they discovered that their examination papers did not contain any official Departmental logo. The Department must investigate these suspicions by checking the accreditation of every course offered at this college.”

Mpontshane further stated that, “If the college is offering courses that are not accredited by the Department it is undermining the very fabric of our education system and possibly destroying lives in the process. Parents and students can ill-afford wasting money on illegitimate courses. These young people will find it difficult to find employment if they graduate with non-accredited courses,” concluded Mpontshane.

The IFP calls on the Minister of Higher Education Dr Blade Nzimande, to urgently send his Departmental team to visit Mnambithi FET College to investigate these claims. The investigation should be extended to other FET Colleges as well.
