Something Amiss in SANDF Deployment in Central African Republic

27 March 2013

Following recent developments on the deployment of the SANDF in Central African Republic, where 13 South African soldiers were killed over the weekend, the IFP urges the SANDF and the Department of Defence and Military Veterans to immediately evacuate all South African soldiers who are still present in Central African Republic, before more are killed. "We cannot trust that there will be no more fatalities among our soldiers in CAR after this tragedy", said IFP Spokesperson on Defence, Mr Albert Mncwango MP.

Mncwango further added, "We call on the National Assembly Speaker, the Honourable Max Sisulu, to call a special sitting of Parliament to debate the issue of what exactly our soldiers were deployed for in Central African Republic, because recent revelations are making the matter even more complicated and it raises a lot of questions. We believe truth needs to be told because it seems like someone is actually lying to the nation and Parliament."
