KwaMbonambi Community Left Without a Clinic

31 July 2013

The Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu-Natal is gravely concerned by the ruling Party's refusal to build a Clinic for the KwaMbonambi Community under uMfolozi Municipality, Northern KZN.

During a visit by IFPs Provincial Health Spokesperson, Hon. Ncamsile Nkwanyana, the IFP discovered that the community has been living without a clinic after their mobile clinic was taken away by the KZN department of Health.

It is appalling that in this day and age there are still people who are being deprived of basic services such as a proper healthcare service. The people of KwaMbonambi have to travel to Richards Bay and Mpangeni area to get to a healthcare facility.  It is also disturbing to learn that these people have pleaded with both the Local Municipal and District Mayor for a Health facility but were allegedly told that for as long as they vote for the IFP they will not get any assistance, said Hon. Nkwanyana, Shadow MEC for Health.

The IFP also noticed amongst other things service delivery in the area is very poor.

It is really sad that it has come to a point whereby a community member has decided to use his house to accommodate nurses just so those on treatment can get access to their medication, however others travel to neighbouring areas to get access to a healthcare facility, said Hon. Nkwanyana.
