IFP Applauds Arrest of SADTU Leaders

01 April 2014

The IFP education forum today expressed shock at the arrest of the education district manager for Ugu, Mfundo Sibiya and two other senior principles for the alleged involvement in the murder of SADTU leader Nkosinathi Zondi.

"The IFP has always maintained that unionism and party politics have no place in the education system and positions should be given to those who qualify for them. This alleged involvement of union leaders and top education officials in this crime is both disgusting and shocking" said IFP chairperson of the Education Forum.

Mr. Lindani Mkhize, the principal of Gobhela primary school and Mr Mhlengi Luthuli the principal of Bonguzwane high school, also both SADTU leaders, were arrested alongside Mr. Sibiya.

The IFP applauds the arrest of these individuals and hopes that the law will be allowed to take its course in this matter as no one should be above the law.
