IFP President Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP, on behalf of the
IFP and its leadership, has congratulated Adv. Thuli Madonsela
on having been included in Time magazine’s annual list of
the 100 most influential people in the world.
The award is not only an accolade for South Africa, but it bears
testimony to the respect and admiration our Public Protector has
earned worldwide for tackling politically sensitive issues with
passion, and without fear or favour.
The IFP commends the Public Protector on the excellent work she
is doing and commends her on her efforts to ensure that this
Chapter 9 institution functions as it should.
We continue to condemn the threats that have been made against
the Public Protector by those who object to being exposed, the
latest being the comments made by a Member of Parliament who has
publically condemned the Public Protector’s work and has
labelled her someone who is “not-God”. Such people are not fit
to serve on any supposedly independent Parliamentary Committees
to assess her report and work.
The IFP continues to urge the Department of Safety and Security
to prioritise Adv. Madonsela’s protection.
