The IFP wants answers from the Minister of
Basic Education about the appointment of Panyaza Lesufi as the
acting director general of the department.
Lesufi is also a PEC member of the ANC in Gauteng and we view
this appointment with some concern because it further
politicises our education system. Lefusi cannot hold two
positions, he must choose one” said IFP education spokesperson,
MP Alfred Mpontshane.
“As the IFP, we endorse the call from our
president Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, calling for government to
do away with cadre deployment for senior positions as this has
proven itself a failure” said Mpontshane
The IFP further questions why Paddy Padayachee,
who was acting as the director general, was not appointed. The
minister appointed her spin doctor instead, while those with
more experience are ignored.

Spokesperson on Education, MP 083 441 6201
