NFP Should Not Get Overexcited by Princess's Health

04 April 2014.

"I find it surprising that the National Freedom Party (NFP) is getting excited about the Princess's health, and that its members are ganging up against her to have her removed from her post" said mayor of Ulundi Cllr Njingase Manana.

The Ulundi municipal manager, Princess Sibuyiselwe Angela Buthelezi, who is the daughter of IFP president Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, is on leave as she has had to undergo spine surgery.

"In every workplace in South Africa, all citizens are entitled to take sick leave. We believe that the NFP, especially Councillor Senzo Richard Shwala, knows this very well. Cllr Shwala himself has been absent for similar reasons. There is no reason to remove the Princess from her position" said mayor Manana

Unlike ordinary employees, whose contracts of employment are regulated by the Bargaining Council rules that may stipulate a capping, the contract of employment between a municipality and the municipal manager is defined by contracts between the two parties. And Council has deemed it a necessity that the Princess be given time to recuperate, in compliance with advice by the medical specialist.

"Any suggestion that there is a problem in the administration of the municipality is unfounded" said the mayor.
