Why Have There Been No Arrests?

11 March 2013

The Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu Natal has lashed out the SAPS for allegedly delaying justice in the Muden area where five adults were left dead and three young boys severely injured.

“Why have there been no arrests when the suspects are known? Why is the MEC only attending to the other pending cases now? It is disturbing that even though the SAPS were aware that this area is plagued by violence allegedly influenced by stock theft however nothing has been done to prevent it.  The MEC for Community Safety and Liaison Willies Mchunu, was early this morning, heard on the radio saying that this is the chance for all other outstanding cases to be investigated, must there be death before such cases receive attention,” said Honourable Les Govender, Shadow MEC for Social Development.

The IFP is calling for the immediate arrest of the known suspects and is also calling for the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS to dissolve the Isikebhe if any of its members are found to be guilty of the crime. The IFP is also calling for protection of the remaining family members.
