IFP Dismayed As Police Officers Received Bail

11 March 2014.

The IFP is dismayed that the two police officers who stripped and assaulted a man in Cape Town are now out on bail.

IFP spokesperson on Police, Mr Velaphi Ndlovu MP said, “Those two police officers should have not been granted bail after they were caught assaulting a man on Saturday. They did not only strip him of his clothes, they also stripped him off his dignity.”

“These police officers continue to assault people because they know they will not be arrested even though they are caught on camera. This happened in the Andries Tatane case now it is happening again in this case.”

The IFP urges the minister of police to apply a zero tolerance approach on police brutality.

Ndlovu added, “These police officers should not be above the law. The minister must ensure that thugs are not running the police services.”
