The IFP has slammed the ANC for using
government employees to gain votes under the auspices of the
Expanded Public Works Programme.
IFP spokesperson on Public Works Mr Petros
Sithole (MP) said "The claims that workers employed under the
Tshwane municipality's operation "Vat Alles"
are forced to campaign for the ANC are true
and real. I visited Atteridgeville where the workers confirmed
to me that after working hours they are forced to campaign for
the ANC, as they were told that it's the ANC that offered those
jobs. Clearly the ANC is abusing government resources"
The Expanded Public Works Programme is meant
to eradicate poverty in all communities, not use people to
campaign for a certain political party.
"This is the same to government's tendency of
using state funds to buy food parcels to gain votes whenever
there are by-elections. The abuse of our poor people by the ANC
must come to an end" concluded Sithole.
The IFP calls on the mayor of Tshwane and the
Gauteng ANC provincial leadership to urgently investigate these
