IFP EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES TO FAMILIES OF MEN KILLED
AT GOLD FIELDS DRIEFONTEIN MINE

The IFP Spokesperson for Mineral and Energy Affairs, Mr Eric Lucas today expressed the Party's condolences with the families of the five men who were killed at the Gold Fields Driefontein mine this week.

Mr Lucas said:

"The IFP is saddened by the deaths of five miners this week at Gold Fields Driefontien mine. We express our condolences to the families of the men who died and our hearts are also with the men who have survived this tragedy."

"The need for a summit on mine safety is reinforced by this latest dreadful loss of life. We are committed to ensuring the safety of all our workers and we find it unacceptable, under any circumstances, that any workers are put in danger or can loose their lives in order to provide for themselves and their families."
