IFP Upbeat About the Youth Ministry

13th August 2014.

The IFP in KwaZulu-Natal Legislature has welcomed the establishment of a Youth Ministry, located in the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, but it wants to salute the IFP Youth Brigade, now led by Mkhuleko Hlengwa,MP, which has been at the forefront in championing this issue.

In a motion raised by Hon Blessed Gwala, MPL, IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, he said “We salute the IFPYB for their courage and their selfless efforts to put pressure on government to ensure that a Youth Ministry is established . Although we welcome this news government still needs to provide more clarity on how this department will work towards making it a full-fledged ministry working for the youth.”

“Such a move will allow for the voices of youth to be heard and their ideas to be incorporated into the national discourse of nation building. We await with great anticipation to hear what steps will be taken to translate talk of a youth ministry to reality. We call on government to make sure that youth from rural areas are well informed about how this department will be beneficial to them. This department must differ from the NYDA which has failed our young people,” concluded Mr Gwala.
