Department of Public Works Must Disclose
Confidential Business Agreements with Zuma Affiliated Third Parties

15 April 2013

The IFP calls on Bonelela Construction Enterprises and the Department of Public Works to disclose all confidential business agreements they have in place regarding work done at President Zuma's private residence in Nkandla.

IFP Spokesperson on Public Works, Mr Petros Sithole MP, said "Millions of Rands worth of tenders were awarded to Bonelela Construction Enterprise in the recent upgrade of President Zuma's homestead in Nkandla. It is alleged that Bonelela Construction Enterprise sub-contracted to Zuma family members who undertook many work projects at the private homestead. The President and his family received outrageous benefits whilst the poor rural communities of Nkandla looked on in total disbelief."

"The process of awarding tenders worth millions of Rands to Bonelela Construction must be investigated in order to see whether it was politically motivated and whether proper tender award processes were followed. It is also alleged that many employees who worked for Bonelela Construction Enterprise at Nkandla have not yet been paid, this must also be investigated," concluded Sithole.
