Manenberg Gangs Out of Control

15 August 2013

The IFP calls on all parents in the Western Cape, especially those in areas where gangsters are prevalent and operative, to work together with law enforcement agencies in the fight against and eradication of gangsterism.

IFP Spokesperson on Police, Mr Velaphi Ndlovu, MP said, “The high prevalence of gangsters in Manenberg is a clear indication that some members of the community are shielding gang members, as some are related to them.”

Ndlovu further stated, “We encourage active community participation in the fight against drugs and gangsterism. Community members must work together with law enforcement authorities in eradicating this scourge. School children must be able to walk to school without the fear of intimidation and being used as human shields during gang shootouts.”

The IFP further calls on the law enforcement offices to enter into dialogue with the community on how best to address this social ill.
