The IFP has called on President Jacob Zuma to
recall Northern Cape Premier who has reportedly spent more than
R50 000 of tax-payers' money on fast foods. The party said this
today following a report in the Sunday Times to the effect that
Premier Sylvia Lucas "spent an astonishing R53 159 on food
during her first 10 weeks in office, using her official credit
card to indulge her passion for treats from Kentucky Fried
Chicken, Nando's, Spur and Steers.
Reacting to the news report, Joshua Mazibuko,
IFP Deputy National Spokesperson said "it is shocking that
Premier Sylvia Lucas decided
to abuse the tax-payers' money, spending more than R50
000 in 10 weeks on feeding herself despite that she earns close
to R2m per month.
sooner President Jacob Zuma recalls her; the better for Northern
Cape because she has shown that she is not a faithful steward of
public funds. In fact as a country we should count ourselves
lucky that she has been found so early before she has wasted a
lot more. She definitely must go."
