KZN COGTA MEC Must Release Report
About Corruption in Mandeni

17 July 2014.

IFP leader in the KwaZulu Natal Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala, today called upon the MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mrs Nomusa Dube-Ncube, to urgently release the report on corruption in Mandeni Local Municipality.

"Public funds are involved and it is alleged that corruption is rampant but the MEC seems to be turning a blind eye. It is time for MEC Dube-Ncube to act without fear or favour to turn the financial fortunes of KZN municipalities around," said IFP Leader in KwaZulu Natal Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala.

"We note that if Mandeni was an IFP-led Municipality the MEC would have taken a resolution to dissolve the municipality and appoint an administrator, but because this is an ANC controlled municipality nothing has been done," continued Mr Gwala.

"In addition, I publicly call on MEC Dube-Ncube to use her constitutional powers to take action against all corrupt municipal officials. The IFP will continue to demand the full disclosure of all municipal investigations in all municipalities," concluded Mr Gwala.
