The parliamentary colleagues of Thomas Mandlenkosi
Shabalala, at both the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature in
Pietermaritzburg and the National Assembly in Cape Town, express their
heart-felt condolences to the Shabalala family and his grieving
constituency. Shabalala was Member of KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature
from 1994 until 2003, when he took up a seat in the National Assembly.
"Shabalala's unwavering sense of duty carried
him through a challenging career at IFP party structures and two
different parliaments. His loyalty to the cause and dedication to his
community were a constant source of strength and inspiration. The work
of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature would not have been as
rewarding without Shabalala's immense contribution. His memory will be
treasured by his colleagues and constituents, whose plight he always
took up as his own," said Dr Lionel Mtshali, MPP and Leader of the
IFP Caucus in KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature.
"The sudden loss of Thomas is a hard blow to
his loving family and constituency. This man of conviction will forever
be remembered by his constituents whose bread and butter issues he
persistently brought to the National Assembly. Thomas's strong
personality, determination and devotion to his community will be gravely
missed in the IFP and beyond," said Alfred Mpontshane, MP and IFP
Whip in the National Assembly.
