The IFP emerged victorious in the highly
contested Ward 39, KwaMashu by-elections yesterday, winning with
a very comfortable 58% of the votes.
Led by party candidate, Mr Bongumusa Zondo,
who scored 2 984 votes as compared with the runner up, ANC's
Meshack Khwela who received 1 413 votes.
IFP Secretary General, Ms Sibongile Nkomo, MP
lauded the victory as, “a taste of what is to come in the 7 May
elections” She said, ”The people of KwaMashu have made their
voices heard. The IFP has listened and will do everything in its
power to improve their living conditions. This we promise.”
