MEC Abused State Resources - and Children's Trust -
to Campaign for Votes

28 March 2014.

The IFP condemns KZN MEC for Transport, Willies Mchunu, for using state resources to attract votes in eMondlo, Vryheid, in northern KwaZulu-Natal and for shamelessly using naive children at the same time.

During his recent visit to eMondlo, children from several schools were invited to the event with promises that they would get bicycles donated by the department. But, instead, children only got to hold the bicycles while photos were taken. After the event, the bicycles were taken from the children and loaded onto a truck. Children went home empty handed.

This is a clear indication of how low the ANC is prepared to stoop in chasing votes, and how it shamelessly abuses public resources to gain votes.

It should also illustrate to voters how the ANC always promises Heaven and Earth, which are inevitably revealed to be only empty promises.

The ANC will abuse State resources and spread lies to the people as we head into the election. People must be careful about ANC leaders who are liars and hypocrites. The time has come for eMondlo residents to do the right thing by voting for the IFP - the party that will deliver on its promises.

The IFP calls on the MEC for Transport to urgently fulfil the promise he made to the children, by giving them the bicycles they were expecting.
